When Is the Right Time?

structured settlements

Throughout the years, I have held many jobs.  I have worked in nursing homes, boarding homes, schools both public and correctional facility, just to mention a few.  Probably the jobs that made me think the most were the ones in nursing homes and boarding homes.  I often found myself wondering when is the right time to help a disabled person?

This is a question that I have carried with me outside the work place.  When is the right time to help an individual who is opening a door while in their wheelchairs or on crutches?  Should I stand by and wait patiently or should I hold the door for them and risk insulting them?

Being disabled does not mean that you cannot do anything at all.  Of course that individual may have a mental or physical disability that impairs them.  Many disabled people live very fruitful and productive lives.

They hold many titles.  Sons and daughter, wives and husbands, grandmas and grandpas are just some of the titles they hold.  They love their families and do all that they possible can with them and for them.

They also hold titles as worker, foreman, manager and owner.  Those that can will work to the best of their abilities.  Many people who have been disabled by the government work part time jobs.  They do not wish to be unproductive citizens of society.

So this leads me back to my original question.  When is the right time to help?  I have come to the conclusion that there really is no right answer.
