New World Trade Center

Consider how the World Trade center was built. Originally the structure was not solid, a mere capsule or a shell, with less than solid beaming.
As I sit and watch the morning news today, I see now how they plan on putting together the new World Trade Center. I noticed they claim that the last structure was not designed to withstand the impact of a 747 and now this time, the building will be completely sound. With an inside steal structure within the outside structure, and pressurized stairwell, so that smoke cannot get inside, several feet wider than the last, the escape method is improved. Not only do they have 2 tons of weight per square foot at the bottom of the structure, they have a a lot of great features that will make this the strongest building on earth.
And a truck bomb, don’t even try to use that method of destruction. The bottom of the building is reinforced so well that not even a truck bomb can rock it off it’s foundation.
Brings me back to the days I lived downtown Chicago. Having the streets blocked off every other day because the wind would blow the glass windows out of the sears tower, wasn’t pleasant. Why would you build a glass structure in a “Windy” city?
Anyway, I think we’ll be safer now with this new World Trade Center. What are your thoughts?

Most engineers would disagree with the assertion that any of the WTC complex (particularly buildings 1 & 2)were “not solid”. At the time of course their double cores built specifically to withswtand a 600 mph impact from a jet, along with maximum wind allowances, and enough asbestos to guarantee that fires would not/could not spread.More about the asbestos in the towers another time.
Indeed, the planes did not bring buildings down on 9/11. It was a series of shaped charges (regular explosives mixed with nanothermitic material which were planted throughout the building). The controlled demolition sequence began with foundation with bombs being detonated in the basement areas of the both buildings before* either *plane* hit* the* towers. Ponder that. And one must ponder WTC Building #7 collapsing like the other two at free-fall speed, hours later, without even being hit by an aircraft. Buldings 1, 2 &3 were in fact the only steel structure buildings on record (in history) that have fallen due to fire. And in fact, they did not fall due to fire. They were each demolished.
I wish these were not the truths, but they are.

Interesting comments, exactly what we hoped would happen. Thanks Richard, your thoughts are always insightful and backed with reference. I merely wondered why, when I worked in Chicago so many years ago that they would block off the streets during especially windy days, knowing that the Sears Tower blocks would need to be blocked off to keep someone from getting decapitated from flying glass. I was young then and it impressed me to think that someone would build a building that big… that would be that much of a pain. Great comments guys and gals.
I am glad they are rebuilding the world trade center with all their improvments,but why should we have to do something like this? Why is our world so messed up we have to make extra strong buildings so we don’t have the devestation of 9-11? Again Why?
Because it is “messed up” that’s likely the reason. You would be correct. It’s really a matter of “defiance” in my opinion. Americans are not going to give in and let those who terrorize win this war. It’s sad yes Cassandra, very sad.
I think that it is awesome that they are rebuilding the buildings with such safe guards. I hate it when I think of the travesty that happened with the first set of twin towers. Let these buildings be a representation that we, as a nation, will not be stopped just because of terrorist attacks. We are a mighty nation and let us stand tall and strong.
