Controversy Over 911 Celebration and New Buildings

True there is always a true controversy over something. Why would the controversy over 911 celebration and new buildings be any different? Ground zero controversy persists as we rebuild the twin towers into a ground zero mosque in remembrance to the September 11th disaster.
It comes to no surprise that the 911 controversy is any less controversial than any other controversy. If there wasn’t controversy would there be debate at all? I’m not being funny!
I’m being serious.
This weekend I was privy to varying opinion on the 911 celebration and the building of the new towers. With an American economy in the toilet, it’s offensive to some, that we consider even the most hallowed ground, a celebration, or another expense of any kind. While others find it offensive not to commemorate the US biggest disaster on record, there is a controversy building on the horizon.
It would be silly of me to think that ground zero would ever be forgotten. More than 3000 children lost parents in the attacks. In the desire to honor the dead there is great anger, politics, and economic agendas cause fury.
On the other hand, just the fact that it happened have some people still weeping. Why not honor the dead and build these buildings? But I also ask the question why? I’m sad that they are spending so much money on anything at all, without first balancing the budget and coming to some serious economic conclusions.
The economy is horrible. The poor are getting seriously poor while the rich are losing their riches. The middle class doesn’t stand a chance. They’re the ones who have finally achieved some level of accomplishment, will they be taxed to the point of foreclosure after all their years of hard work. Again, think about America’s poorest of the poor and 911 becomes but a faint and passing thought, pale in comparison.
It’s frustrating for the poor that have to sit on the bench and have lunch vs. going to a 5 star location. I know that may sound mellow-dramatic, but hey, it’s the 10th anniversary of a pretty devastating event in history.

This is the year of the Presidential election. How many of you are diligently watching all the stuff going on with the political figures ...

Yes this mosque in tribute to those who lost their lives in the September 11th disaster is an emblem that will stand as the “mosque” of all “mosque’s”. Some find it offensive to be re-building, while others find comfort in the notion. Please tell us what you think.
I still think that it is a great tribute to those who are affected by the tragedy. But I also believe that we should take into consideration the striving economy that we have. My best bet is to be practical rather than be sentimental about the whole thing.
I am one of those that “still weeps” for those whose lives were lost because of a senseless act. I can still remember where I was and how I felt that day when I found out what happened. I feel that this is an event that should never be forgotten because it does remind us that we are vunerable.
I’m a weeper too, so you got me there. It was a senseless act, by all means. I do remember where I was, the exact location, and how I felt that day. I remember worrying over my girls who were still in school, calling them, yes calling them at school to see if they were okay. The event should not be forgotten, and will not be forgotten. What the point was with my article was that there is so much controversy over the amount of money that’s being pumped into this project, considering the American economy is really, really, really bad. Did I say “really” bad? LOL
